Summary

Earth Security and the various Colonial governments issue civilian and police grade sidearms. A few of these are available for civilian use as protection in an emergency when the civilian has not been trained with the use of a Starfleet Phase Pistol. While Earth Security has an older, simpler form of the phase pistol, many colonies early on adopted a Japanese Police Force sidearm- the Shizu-41 charged particle pistol. Luna, Mars and the Outer Worlds Commonwealth all use variations of this venerable design.
